ATELIER Final conference: Scaling Positive Energy Districts Across Europe

Conference – Smart City ATELIER will conclude with a major final conference in Bilbao, Spain, taking place on 11 and 12 March 2026. Registration for the final conference is open until 27 February, and a detailed agenda is available online. The event will bring together key actors involved in the development of Positive Energy Districts across Europe and mark the culmination of the project’s work.
The conference will gather all 30 ATELIER project partners, alongside a selected group of high-level guests, to exchange hands-on experiences and reflect on lessons learned throughout the project. A central element of the programme will be the progress achieved by ATELIER’s two Lighthouse Cities, Bilbao and Amsterdam. Their initial ambitions will be revisited and compared with the results delivered, offering valuable insight into how Positive Energy Districts have evolved from early concepts to concrete implementation. These reflections will be shared through plenary sessions and city-led discussions.
In parallel, the six ATELIER Fellow Cities will present their own replication journeys. Their contributions will highlight both successes and challenges encountered when adapting Positive Energy District models to different local contexts, providing a realistic picture of what replication entails in practice.
