From 17th to 19th June 2025, at the Department of Engineering and Geology (INGEO) of the University “G. d’Annunzio” of Chieti-Pescara, Italy, ENEA experts participated to an event organized during the Doctorate Course in “Engineering Science – Cycle XL”, focusing on the recommendations for the in-site assessment of the resistance of concrete through non-destructive methods, proposed by RILEM (Réunion Internationale des Laboratoires et Experts des Matériaux, systèmes de construction et ouvrages) 249-ISC : Non destructive in situ strength assessment of concrete .
Vincenza Luprano and Elena Candigliota from ENEA (Laboratory Technologies for the Safeguarding of the Architectural and Cultural Heritage) participated in the event by contributing to the discussion on integrated approaches for upgrading the existing building stock, and by presenting their research results on real case studies, including the outcomes achieved at the Margherita di Savoia demo site, within REHOUSE project activities.
They presented the integrated methodology of building knowledge that combines energy efficiency, structural safety, and social study. This methodology had been tested on the social housing building in Margherita di Savoia. The participation of ENEA in this event confirmed the active role of the Agency in promoting advanced methodologies for structural diagnostics, with particular attention to sustainability, security, and the valorisation of the building heritage.
