NEWS: REHOUSE project at the International Conference on Construction, Energy, Environment and Sustainability in Bari, Italy

REHOUSE project will be among the protagonists of CEES 2025, the International Conference on Construction, Energy, Environment and Sustainability, taking place in Bari, Italy the 11th – 13th June 2025, organised by Itecons-University of Coimbra, Portugal, in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Bari, and sponsored by ENEA among others.

This event intends to promote a dialogue between research, policy makers and companies engaged in the construction and energy sectors, addressing the challenges of energy efficiency and sustainability related to the built environment and construction sector, in the global framework of climate change, resource scarcity and population growth, and consequent urbanisation growth. CEES 2025 edition aims at innovative technologies and materials for construction, physics and energy performance of buildings, environmental impacts of artificial infrastructures, the adoption of Industry 4.0 principles in the construction sector, urban planning, and the socio-economic aspects of sustainability in the construction sector.

ENEA experts will be coordinate the thematic session “Nexus Between urban heat island (UHI)effect Adaptation Measures and a Sustainable Building Environment”, dedicated to the reduction of energy consumption and the mitigation of the urban heat island effect (UHI) through green building envelope technologies illustrating, the results of their research on Green Roofs and Green Walls for Adapting to UHI and Reducing Building Energy Consumption and Building Integrated Vegetation Technologies and their Impact on Building Energy Consumption: The Role of Leaf Area Index.

Monica Misceo, Antonio Di Micco and Salvatore Tamburrino, in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Marche, will present the technological innovations in energy efficiency interventions, and their impacts on a neighborhood, following an inclusive approach centered on the cultural change in the use of energy, at the base of the results obtained in European REHOUSE project, in the activities developed in the Italian demonstration site, a social housing building located in Margherita di Savoia, Apulia Region.

Other ENEA presentations will focus on a quantitative study on the cooling effect of green roofs, regarding the use of remote sensing and GIS technologies to analyze the effectiveness of green roofs in mitigating urban heat islands.
