NEWS: BUILD UP interview with Javier Antolín Gutiérrez, CARTIF about effects of financial aspects for existing net-zero energy buildings  

On June 11th, 2024 the BUILD UP team interviewed Javier Antolín Gutiérrez from CARTIF (coordinator of REHOUSE) about ‘Financial aspects are a major concern to achieve net-zero energy existing buildings, as the cost of deep renovations can be prohibitively high, and while incentives help, the upfront investment remains a barrier’. 

He reflects on how EU policies is helping to promote zero-emission buildings and outlines some of most promising technologies that are significant to achieving these targets. He also outlines obstacles which encounter existing buildings when it comes to renovation and the aim to achieve net-zero energy emissions by 2050.  

And taking REHOUSE as an example he emphasises that public awareness and education campaigns are also essential to promote the benefits of zero-emission buildings and encourage adoption.
